When you're playing an Ants game, do you ever think to yourself, “Just how do they manage to win each game?” or “What kinds of strategies and tips they use?” Well, you're in luck! Many Zoners took some time out to share with us their Ants game strategies. Take a look!
On Protecting Your Ant Hill using Fire and Bombs:
“If you need more food for points, build fire traps or bomb traps around the food so enemy ants can't get to the food.”-- Cheapop
“Have bombs and fires placed around your hill, so the opponent will need a Fire Ants AND a Bomb Ant before they can steel your food.”-- Tjeerdo
“Place firewalls around an opponents hill so they can't get the food into their hill. Note: Fire walls run out after awhile! If your getting attacked, place a fire wall and walk onto it which leaves you time get help.”-- Troy
“Here's a nifty trick for Ants: Place bombs all around your anthill in a zigzag pattern. This may seem stupid, but I've found out that if a bomb is blocking an ant's path he will walk around it if it is one that was placed by a teammate. So, all of your ants will walk through the diagonals when bringing food to the anthill but the ants of the opponent will stumble into bombs when trying to attack or something of the sort. This trick is a lot better than building walls of bombs around your area because it is more efficient. The only problem is that an opponent's bomber may try diffuse or add extra bombs. If you decide to use the method make sure you keep your BombAnt.
This next trick is a bit risky so don't try it unless you're losing or you're sure that your opponent doesn't have and can't get any fire ants. What you do is, you walk to the front of an anthill with your FireAnt (he's the only one you need for this trick) and build a wall of fire. Walk into this wall and build more fires around it. Walk into one of them and build more fires near it, and then walk into one of them and so on. If you do this right the walls of fire will cut off the path into the anthill and the owner of the anthill will be unable to score points until the walls of fire extinguish. The cool thing about this trick is that while your FireAnt is in the fire, none of the ants have the ability to attack him. If an ant blocks the spot where you want to build the fire, simply push him away by attacking him. The only problem is if your opponent gets a FireAnt. If this happens, your FireAnt is in deep trouble because your opponent's FireAnt will attack you, knock you off of the protective flames and then have the rest of his ants back him up. It takes a crafty and knowledgeable Ants expert to get his FireAnt out of that situation.
Another story is what to do if an opponent's FireAnt does this trick to YOUR anthill and you can't get a FireAnt. The only way I know to stop the FireAnt from disabling you is to place a bomb on the spot where you think the FireAnt will build his next fire, and then keep the bomber near by in case if the FireAnt tries something else. But as I've said before, this trick is a lot riskier than it sounds, so be careful! -- newcomer 58
On Using Comb Ants:
“Send three Comb Ants to kill individual ants completely and reduce your enemy. Team up if possible so one person gathers food and the other one kills other opponent ants off.”-- mnmstrub
“It is a good idea to use two CombAnts to gang up on other ants. It is an especially good idea to use ?em to knock enemy ants into the water. Never let an enemy BombAnt near your base. If you are running from enemies and you have a BombAnt, find a secluded area and use bombs to secure yourself (if they are pursuing). If you can't become a BombAnt in that scenario, then be a FireAnt and blaze a trial to freedom. Or, best of all, be a SwimAnt and you can hide in the puddles free of worry.”-- Winchester
On Using Different Ants:
When you start the game, always go for the combat ability first because that is the best ability. Then go for the Firemen ability because that is the second best. If you have the Fire Ant then you can be invincible if you fire a ground and you stay on top of it. Then go for the Thief ability so what you can get easy food of 50 by stealing your enemies' food. Then use a bomb to cover one of the ant holes (the one that your enemy can go in and steel your food). Then use the bomb to surround your entire place so that you can remain protected. Then start collecting food without attacking. Attacking will only make you waste time. Only attack with fire ants because they can become invincible if they stand on their fire. - Ace_HolyAngel
