The Brotherhood of Honor

Cause
The Brotherhood of Honor was formed in my mind's-eye during a battle with some of the best people that I have ever fought with in the lands of Dereth. I realized that a guild that provided its members a stable place to grow and flourish as players and people as a whole was needed, to ensure that the balance between dark and good remain equal, and that no side was the more favored. One of our oaths is to, through time, thwart the Dark Council's dastardly plans to free their "dark god Yrth from his imprisonment in the temporal void and sway the balance of power in favor of evil," to keep the balance of truth equal. We are also on the lookout to ensure that the good shall not overrun the land, thus denying even the simplest man or woman the drive or the determination to be anything more than they are at birth. It is Galviston-Craig's view that without the balance, there would be nothing to strive for. Evil would have nothing to conquer, while good nothing to overcome. It is this very motivation that drives us into the depths of our realm to reap the fruits of our land, and to spread the wealth to your fellows.

Ours is a carefully planned allegiance that strives to extend a noble, honorable, protective, and enjoyable presence to all. It is our hope to become well known throughout all the lands of Dereth as an allegiance to be respected and welcomed, and to be called upon to build adventuring teams, find treasure, and above all meet people and make new friends. We assume it goes without saying, but just in case it wasn't clear, role-playing is why we are all here, so it is expected that all members of this allegiance will role-play.

Requirements
  • Role-playing is vital to the success of Asheron's Call as well as the success of this allegiance. If role-playing isn't your style, then regrettably this allegiance is not for you.
  • To become a member of this allegiance, you must be of no lower than 5th level. This is to protect the allegiance as a whole, as lower-level characters are known to abandon their characters for newer characters. (NOTE: Any level is welcome to petition the allegiance to help build their character as well as let them decide how they want to play out their role. These initiates are bestowed minor incentives while petitioning.)
  • Any information learned throughout the allegiance shall not be passed on to anyone that is outside of the allegiance. This is to protect magic in Dereth as we know it. A great magician once said that shared magic is weak magic. You are however encouraged to recruit initiates and vassals if they are at least level 5. Please note that initiates may be provided armor and pyreal; they are not to be provided magic, or arcane items (unless they find these items on their own).
  • We do expect that you play one character a majority of the time, as this just adds to the charm and overall role-playability of this game. Now don't take this as "no, you can only play one character," because if you do play other characters, you are welcome to petition the allegiance (restricted to the same conditions outlined above) to make those new characters members of the allegiance as well. It is however discouraged.
  • Each member inducted into the allegiance must at that time sign the allegiances tome, swearing their allegiance to Galviston-Craig. At that time you will be provided a parchment specifying the spoils that will be passed on to you as a reward. This parchment is your allegiance acceptance letter, and should never be lost, traded, or sold, as it is required as proof of membership and you will need to present it to claim any rewards.
  • Above all this is fun, and we hope that these rules aren't too harsh. However, they are required for the success of our cause. Swear allegiance to this cause and you will be rewarded with at least nothing less than the feeling that you have helped your brothers and sisters achieve a higher sense of being, while having a great time learning. We aren't a charity group, and it is expected that each person do their best to help themselves as well as others within the allegiance. We're here to help each other not to be babysat.
  • The most important requirement for becoming a member of this allegiance is a solid will, and strong character. At all times respect for fellow members, as well as other characters encountered in Dereth, will be of the highest stature. When in combat, if at all possible, pick up your hunting mates' items, and give them back. There is nothing worse than losing a brass necklace of mana regeneration to a fellowship member that just loots you and leaves.
Benefits of the Brotherhood of Honor
  • To create a family organization that looks after one another, build XP, and have fun, while at the same time being honorable, helpful, and respectful to all who play Asheron's Call.
  • Incentives for members based on allegiance rank and level will be provided as the guild gains more members.
  • People that are accepted into the guild will be provided tools and items pertinent to their character and selected skills. This includes a set of armor, cloak, or other items of clothing considered to be distinctive to the allegiance.
  • Well-thought-out line of command. Specialized guild leaders will be chosen to provide discipline, training, information, and items specific to all main character skills such as Archery, Sorcery, Swordsmanship, etc. (based on need and ranking).
This is a basic idea of how the chain of command will eventually look:

Galviston-Craig
+-Advocate Warrior
| +-Archer
| +-Swordsman
| +-Axeman
| +-Vagabonds

+-Advocate Sorcerer
| +-Healer
| +-Item Enchantment
| +-Character Enchantment
| +-War Mage

+-Advocate Cartographer
| +-Town Portal Scout
| +-Dungeon Portal Scout
| +-Castle/Fort Scout
|
+Etc.

Each sublevel is encouraged to gather vassals in their line of skill. This not a hard rule, but does often help in the struggle to locate items and research spells, which in the long run benefits the entire guild

All spells researched should be provided on parchment and given to your patron. This goes the same for any magical items that you cannot benefit from at your current level. A patron who can't use these items should pass them up a level to their patron and so forth. Spells will be distributed to members from Galviston-Craig as they are needed, as will all stores of components, armor, and other items. The name of the game here is honor. Please pass up what you don't need so that it can be passed out accordingly or sold for useful objects that will help others.

Galviston-Craig welcomes you to join the fold of those setting out for the real truth about Dereth, and to vanquish evil and good as their powers become unbalanced. See you in the fold.
