Whether you're playing single-player or in multiplayer mode, you'll want to keep in mind the following tips and hints:
- For most people, the game is easier to play with a Sidewinder gamepad or a joystick. The game supports lots of different configurations, so experiment until you find the setup that's right for you.
- Make sure to switch into Beast mode when you're not firing your weapons. This will prevent you from being hurt by the Energon.
- You can't save in the middle of a level. This can be frustrating if you're used to running through a level, waving your guns around, and taking what comes at you. Go slowly. Patience is key.
- Avoid big firefights. Sneak around corners, and try to pick off your enemies one by one.
- Power-ups don't disappear. If you see one and don't need it, save it for later.
- Allow your targeting cross hair to lock onto enemies. This is more effective than running towards them and firing wildly.
- In addition to displaying enemies, the map shows objects that you can shoot, such as rock piles. Use the map to help determine when to pop in and out of Beast mode.
- The large, purple rocky areas are Energon fields. Touching them usually means a mission failure.
- If you die during a mission, you can choose to continue the game, but that Transformer won't be available for the second attempt. You can regain use of the Transformer by obtaining the Rescue Mission power-up and completing the mission?but it's wiser just to restart the level.
