- Don't take another card when you have 15 or more.
- Split pairs when you have a set of Aces.
- Never split 4s, 5s, 6s, or 10s.
- Always split 8s unless the dealer's up card is 9 or 10.
- Your chances of winning are decreased when you double the bet and draw one card to a count of 11.
- When the dealer's up card is 7, 8, or 9, the player should hit a count of 16 or less.

Bridge
- Prevent your opponent from fulfilling their contract.
- More points can be scored by catching opponents in overtricks and having them double than by taking the bid yourself.
- Since the object of Bridge is to get the highest score, always check your team's current score during gameplay; it affects your bid and play.
- Know your distribution counting.
Euchre
- Make trump in your best suit.
- Aces and Kings should be played at the earliest opportunity so that your partner can see them. If not, on the second hand, your partner may waste a trump on a lead.
- If you have a hand with three trumps and an Ace, you should lead the trumps first. This reduces the danger that your Ace will be trumped.
Hearts
- If you have the King of Spades and the Ace of Spades in your opening hand, pass it! Otherwise, those cards can take the Queen of Spades in a trick and you don't want that.
- Definitely pass the Queen of Spades if you have it in your opening hand.
- Try to create a void in your hand. This is a great way to get rid of the Hearts or the Queen of Spades when your opponents are leading suits.
- If you have high card Hearts in your opening hand, such as the Ace, King, Queen, or Jack, pass it to your opponent.
Pinochle
- Keep an eye on what your opponents discard. This is a great way to see which melds they are collecting.
- Remember that you can play your cards from the melds to the tricks.
- Don't lead your trump.
- If not in trump, you should play your longest suit whenever you have the lead.
