The Battle of Kursk in western Russia historically involved as many as 6,000 tanks, 4,000 aircraft, and two million fighting men. This time around, it all boils down to you.
Entitled Prelude to Citadel, the Close Combat III
Trial Version scenario puts you in charge of either the German or Russian forces in one pivotal battle of Kursk. The maze of buildings scattered along an east-west stretch of paved roadway will be your playground. Shock Troops, Assault Engineers, T-34s, Tiger Tanks, rocket launching half-tracks, and 120mm mortars will be your toys. Looks like it's time to find out just what it takes to lead men into battle, and survive.

To download and launch the Close Combat III: The Russian Front
Trial Version, follow these steps:
- Click the link to the Trial Version site below.
- Select the download option.
- Chose to open the file or save it to your hard disk.
- If you save to your hard disk, double-click the mscc3.exe and choose Install.
- Once installation is complete, launch the Trial Version by double-clicking the icon on your desktop or by opening your Start menu, going to Programs\Microsoft Games and selecting The Russian Front.
- Passing your mouse slowly over different parts of the game interface will bring up "rollover help" messages at the bottom of your screen. Additionally, you can right-click your mouse on any element of the screen to bring up task-specific help.
- Keep your head down and have fun!

You must have Microsoft DirectX 6.0 to play Close Combat III: The Russian Front
. The Trial Version download site provides an option for this.
To install DirectX 6
Download DirectX 6 from /directx. Run the executable and follow the install instructions. Download the Trial version.
The complete Trial installation requires about 120 MB of free hard disk space once it is installed. The download executable is 25.4 MB.
