| Euchre: Frequently Asked Questions and Answers | |
|
Here are some frequently asked questions and answers the Zone has received.
Do I need DirectX to play Euchre?
Yes. If you receive a message saying you need DirectX 6.0 or higher then you need to download AND install the latest version of DirectX from the official DirectX site. If you are using Windows NT4.0, you need to have Service Pack 4 or higher installed to play. Can I play Euchre over a corporate firewall or proxy? Most likely not. Euchre will probably fail to launch if you're going through either a corporate firewall or proxy. I cannot get Euchre to launch. What do I do? If you are behind a corporate firewall or on a proxy, it is likely that Euchre will not launch correctly. Try connecting through a modem instead. If you are sure you are not behind a firewall, try observing a game already in progress that has a good communications channel. Three green bars next to the game number or host's name signal a good communications channel. If this is successful, try a different table. You should be able to host or join a game normally with other players who are also able to join successfully. What do the little colored bars mean? This is an indicator that shows how fast your computer is communicating with other players. The more bars displayed, the faster your computer is communicating. It is recommended that you connect to a game or host with a green indicator. Note your computer communicates with itself very quickly, thus communications speed is not measured next to your own name. Some high-speed connections will also be displayed with no indicator. Do I need a CD to play Euchre? No, Euchre is a free game provided by the Internet Gaming Zone and is downloaded to your computer when you enter a game room. Why does the hosting/joining game interface differ from other Zone card games like Spades or Hearts? This is because the architecture behind Euchre requires a room similar to retail games like Age of Kings. |
