Welcome to MechWarrior 4 Zone Stats! Zone Stats is our newest ratings system, which records and posts your detailed game specific information, such as kills to deaths, number of hits, total time played, and much more. With Zone Stats, you'll also be able to compare your stats directly with other players. Now that's cool! See MechWarrior 4 Stats. To see how stats are calculated and read frequently asked questions, see MechWarrior 4 Ratings: Frequently Asked Questions and Answers.
This Zone Stats rating is different from the current system in other Zone games such as Backgammon, Hearts, Age of Empires, etc. The goal of this rating system is to accurately represent the skill of a player by a rating. This rating is calculated from the results of previous games, and is then used to predict the outcome of future games between pairs of players. This rating system handles multiplayer games by splitting them into a series of 1-on-1 contests and applying the rating algorithm to each contest separately. The outcome of the 1-on-1 contests is based on a comparison of each player's score in the game. Players are not compared against teammates in team games. The most important assumption that this system makes is that in a given game, a player's score is an accurate representation of their performance in that game.
The ZoneStats system maintains a separate rating (and ranking) for every player for every game type and game subtype that is supported. In MechWarrior 4, each player has a separate rating for Destruction, Team Destruction, Attrition, Team Attrition, Capture the Flag, King of the Hill (KOTH), and Team KOTH.
Below is a short list of information that will help you to interpret your rating.
- The more rating points that you have, the higher your rank
- You CANNOT gain or lose rating points by playing against bots.
- You WILL NOT be ranked until you have played 5 games AND 60 minutes (however, you will still be able to look at your stats).
- The maximum rating points that can be gained in a game is 40.
- The maximum rating points that can be lost in a game is 40.
- The average player will have a rating of 500.
- New players are given an initial rating of 500.
- An "excellent" player will have a rating of greater than 1000.
- The more players that are in a game, the "easier" it is for the top players in the game to get maximum points.
- If a player with a high rating defeats a player with a low rating, then neither player will have their rating affected significantly.
- Conversely, if a player with a low rating defeats a player with a high rating, both players will have a large rating adjustment (a rating increase for the winner, and a decrease for the loser).
- The maximum points that can be earned in a game are based on the length of the game. A player can gain (or lose) up to 2 rating points per minute (up to a maximum of 20 minutes in a single game).
- If two players with the same rating play each other to a draw, then neither player's rating will change.
