FARM ROAD 29 -- Between Checkpoint 4 and 5, visit the farm and say hi to the two cows grazing in their pens. If you're feeling particularly mean-spirited, you can tip them with your truck. They'll moo but they won't be injured. Push 'em out onto the track for some black and white roadblocks.
FARM ROAD 29 -- after checkpoint four make a left and stay to the left of the water tower bust through the corral where the cows are for a good shortcut. (Submitted by Speed_Demon_14)
On FARM ROAD 29, go through Checkpoint 2, and turn to the left side of the bridge. Go over the jump, then after checkpoint 3, make a very sharp right and hop on to the railraod tracks. Watch out for trains! Make a sharp left to go through checkpoint 4. -- (Submitted by Zone member Mickey)
THE HEIGHTS -- There's a shortcut just after Checkpoint 5 and before the finish line. The road leads directly into a long strip of water, but the water will slow you down. Just before the wet stuff, turn to the right, take the high road around the puddle and back out onto the track to shave some time off your lap.
THE HEIGHTS -- Go straight after you go through checkpoint five. Once you go through the trees ahead, you'll be going backwards on the track until you get to the starting/finish line. Once you just get under the finish line, hit the key for the helicopter twice for an instant stop. Back through the line and you've shaved a lot more time off your lap then just avoiding the water trap. Also remember, call the helicopter frequently for making instant stops. Hit "h" and then immediately hit it again. It stops you instantly so you can make tighter turns. (This move makes it easier to avoid overshooting checkpoints when you're approaching them from the wrong way-like the earlier tip suggests). -- (Submitted by _Cyphre_)
THE EXCAVATION -- Not only can you drive up the ramps on the Mexican pyramids, you can also drive inside of one. Check out the pyramid just to the left of the first Checkpoint. Drive around to the rear, and you'll find a way inside the center of the pyramid. Not much to do there, but hey, it's cool anyway, right?
BREAKNECK RIDGE -- This track is a blast to drive. Learn to powerslide and avoid the big backhoes. If you get good enough with your sliding technique, you can cut through the backhoes quickly and cut big time off your laps. Just past Checkpoint 2 is a large lake with two goalposts set in the water. Get into cockpit mode and drive into the middle of the lake. At the bottom of the lake is a hockey puck made to look like a tire. Drive it around and through the goals! -- (Submitted by Curtiss)
SCRAPYARD RUN (AND A SECRET TRACK) -- Did you say secret track? Oh yeah! Go to the Scrapyard Run track and just after Checkpoint 4, you'll see a small building with a truck parked outside and a chain link fence nearby. Bust through the fence and turn left on the paved road. This road is a circular track, but before you make the grand tour, turn left onto the railroad tracks. Keep driving along the tracks until you see a fenced enclosure to your right. Drive off the tracks and into the enclosure. This is a large drive-in movie theatre and when you drive up to the screen, you'll see a text message flash: "The terror has been unleashed." This opens up the secret track "The Graveyard." Close out your game, reopen and you'll find it in the Track List. The Graveyard is a tight little course always run in the rain and lightning (try it at dark for an especially ghoulish race). This secret track isn't so secret in some builds of the game, as many Zoners have pointed out. Chalk it up to different versions. And Zone member Losik would like you to know of a shortcut in the Graveyard. Right after Checkpoint 4, turn left to go up and over the hill, then turn left again and drive past the house. You'll skip the whole tunnel area and be back on the road for Checkpoint 5.
TUNDRA TOURNAMENT TRACK -- To get up on the top of the Stadium Roof in Tundra, go up and out of the stadium on the track. Slow down right before you get to the cones. As soon as you pass the cones, turn left and go across the other side of the track. Keep going, staying along the outside of the stadium to the point where the grey wall is real flat. Then, press helicopter (H). When the helicopter brings you above the stadium, press H to let go, and you're on top! -- (Submitted by Zone member Matt R.)
Rallies
SIDEWINDER CANYON -- You can take a big shortcut between Checkpoints 4 and 5. Go through Checkpoint 4 and around the curve. Floor it and go over what looks to be a man-made bridge. After the bridge, take the first right in the wall that you see. You'll drop a good ways and hit the track just before it goes through the fifth Checkpoint.
For the hidden track, go through Checkpoint 4, around the corner and over the bridge. At the end of that bridge, you will see barricades on the right side of the track. Drive through them. A ways down the road, a bridge will intersect the road you're driving on. Turn onto that bridge, through the archway and you'll open up a secret track. You need to restart the game in order to get the new track.
VOODOO ISLAND -- Just after Checkpoint 2, there's another nasty water trap. If you go straight into it, you can get stuck near the entrance and will have to request the helicopter. Stay to the right, and take the banked straightaway beside the water to come out safely on the other side.
You can also go straight and right directly after Checkpoint 2 over the hill and down onto the other side of the track. You'll have to backtrack a bit for Checkpoint 3, but this move can save some serious time. -- (Submitted by Danny_Orlando)
TINHORN JUNCTION -- Don't miss the working oil well between Checkpoints 2 and 3. And if you want to see the countryside, try to hop on the train that runs in the gully between Checkpoints 4 and 5, and follow it along the tracks. This jump is one of the trickiest in the game. You need to be positioned correctly and flying as fast as you can to clear the gap.
TUMBLEWEED FLATS - The road and turn markers are for wusses. Drive like mad through this track, paying attention only to the Checkpoints. There are plenty of opportunities to cut off huge chunks of time as you trundle through the countryside.
