The Internet Gaming Zone Re-Volt Zone Car Contest (the "Contest") is a skill contest in which participants are asked to submit a virtually custom-built car by utilizing the Re-Volt Racing Game for judging based on the criteria set forth below. The contest begins at 12:01 AM PT on September 17, 1999 and will end at 11:59 PM PST on October 15, 1999. The contest is open to legal residents of the United States and Canada who have installed system-required graphics software as of September 17, 1999. Void in Puerto Rico, Quebec Province and where prohibited by law.
To enter you must create an originally designed Internet Gaming Zone ZoneCar, that incorporates the Internet Gaming Zone logo, by using the custom car texture features in the Acclaim Entertainment software game CD Re-Volt. If you are not a current owner of this software game, you may download a limited time trial version of the program now at /revolt/downloads.asp. The trial version includes all features necessary to successfully compete in this contest. Use of the full retail version or trial version will in no way affect a contestant's chances of winning this competition. This technology feature requires the use of a compatible graphics program, such as Microsoft Paint.
- Download the Internet Gaming Zone logo available at: /MSN GamingZone/homepage
- Open the folder ZoneCar and find the Car.bmp file with any standard paint program. (i.e. MSPaint)
- Use your paint program tools to change the car texture and include the Internet Gaming Zone logo. (See Section 3 Winner selection below for judging criteria)
- After you finished editing the texture Save the file.
- Scale your graphic down by 50% to 128x128.
- Once reduced, save it out as a car.BMQ file! You may need to rename the file to after you have saved it because your standard paint program may have appended .bmp on the end. Re-Revolt will not be able to read the file if it is not named Car.bmq.
- Locate the file PARAMETERS.TXT
- Open the PARAMETERS.TXT by double clicking on it.
- Change the name of the car at the top to ZoneCar.
- Next, go through the text file and locate all the paths for loading files your car needs. (i.e. "cars\Adeon\wheelfl.prm"). You'll need to change the folder name to your new name. In this case, the folder Adeon would be renamed with ZoneCar the new folder name where you are creating your car. (i.e. Cars\ZoneCar\wheelfl.prm)
- Now save the text file to the same name.
Test your car:
- Launch Re-Volt.
- When you get to choose your car, keep pressing the cursor key until you find the box with the question marks and with the name ZoneCar.
- Test drive the car and observe your new texture.
- You might have to modify your texture map several times to get it right.
Submit your ZoneCar entry:
When you have finished your new Internet Gaming Zone ZoneCar, you need to send the graphic to us:
