- Match the car to your driving style. If you tend to overdrive, which means you're always spinning out everywhere, get a car with 4WD and a better top speed than acceleration. If you feel you're too cautious, go with a car that has wicked acceleration.
- Also, match the car to the track. If it is a mess of twisty curves and not many straight-aways, go for acceleration, low weight and preferably 4WD to stick through those turns.
- A good set of cars to try if you're getting stuck is the Volken for Bronze and Silver Championships, the Adeon for the Gold Championship and the Humma for the Platinum Championship.
- Try the F1 key and drive from the view as if you're sitting on the front bumper. A much better feeling of speed and, more importantly, the closer view, will give many players a much better sense of control.
- If you're trying to complete the whole game, a good progression to follow is: win the races of a championship series in practice first, to get the practice stars as this opens more cars. Then, do the single races of the championship series for even more cars. Follow this up with the championship series. Finally, have fun in the stunt arena going for the stunt stars. Follow this path through all championship series and then come back to try the reversed and mirrored tracks by conquering the time trials.
- Do not hit the power too early in the turns as this nearly always spins you out.
- Using jumps usually means a loss of contact with the road, which means a loss of speed. It might look cool but usually slows you down.
- Use some of the road boundaries to your advantage by power-sliding into them, bumping off and heading onwards.
- Save the oil slick for the tight turns.
- Save the fake pick up until someone is right behind you, so you get to hear that nice KA-BOOM!
- Try to follow the racing line that the other cars follow. A good smooth line will take serious time off your laps.
- Make sure you set yourself up straight for the jumps. A crooked take-off will have you landing on a few wheels, your hood, your side, and so on, as you bounce down the track.
- Taking curves on hills are tricky. It's very easy to spin out so try to go straight down hills, then do your turning.
